I would like to start by saying, I have no affiliation with Secret Headquarters or anyone who works there. I'm just a nerdy guy letting other nerdy people in on great places to visit in Evansville and the surrounding tri-state area. This will hopefully be the first review of many.
Secret Headquarters, located on the north side of town is one of Evansville's least best kept secret. One side is a great store specializing in nerd collectibles, everything from, Funko Pops!, comics, classic vinyl, collectible toys and statues of your favorite comic book characters. In the back of the store is lounge area with a flat screen t.v. and a few fold out tables for gaming tournaments. You can play classic home consoles in the arcade cafe for $5 an hour ($2.50 each additional).
On the other side is an awesome retro arcade with many classic stand up games like Galaga, Ms. Pac-Man, TMNT: The Arcade Game, Area 51 and many more. 80's hairband rock plays on the speakers under black light, to complete the retro arcade experience. The best part is it's only $5.00 for a full hour of play, unless you choose 1 of 3 pinball machines which are pay by game.
Final thoughts:
The atmosphere is great, the staff is very friendly, and the prices are right. I've gone alone, with friends and with my 7 year old daughter and we've always had fun in the arcade and looking at the cool collectibles. The arcade can get a bit hot, but if anyone ever hung out in such places in the 80's you know it's all part of the experience. Secret Headquarters is a great, family friendly, place to hang out and shop. I highly recommend it.
