The Gaming Guild

Nestled in North Park, away from the urbanized east side and the conservative west side is an unassuming game shop called The Gaming Guild. Inside you'll find a wide selection of niche board and card games along with some great RPG's. In the back is a good play area for tourneys, events and just random gaming. Smaller than say, Comic Quest it has a big heart. The employees are always friendly and very knowledgeable. And if they don't have a game you want in stock they'll not only order it for you but also take 20% off the retail price. Pricing in the store takes a little getting used to as they add in taxes so you know the final amount you'll pay. They only sell games, which sets them apart from other local stores that *also* sell games. The small size can work to their advantage in some aspects, but on the flip side a lot of people may not know it's there.

Final Thoughts:

The Gaming Guild is a good place to shop around for the latest games and older classics. The 20% off deal for ordering games not in stock is also a big plus. The store also buys and sells used games. They check each potential used game to make sure all of the pieces are present. I know because I've sold quite a few of my older games there for store credit. There's a good atmosphere and anyone is welcome to bring in games to play or try one of their demo copies. I'd recommend it to anyone in the hobby or anyone trying to get into it.
